Poland and Germany in modern Europe

Welcome to the online application for the Polish-German doctoral program!

The program "Poland and Germany in modern Europe" is situated at the Ludwig-Maximilians-University in Munich and at the Willy Brandt Center for German- und Europe studies at the University in Wrocław. The research program focuses on history, culture and politics in Germany and in Poland with special interest on the interrelationships between both countries.Further information about our research program and the advisory board are available on our website:   www.pdme.geschichte.uni-muenchen.de

The program offers doctoral positions.

For application, please submit the following documents:

  • a copy of your General Certificate of Education Advanced Level / High School Diploma (equivalent to a German Abitur); please include a transcript if the document is not written in English
  • an academic transcript (academic record, diploma supplement, - statement of learning, record of achievement) listing all the modules or subjects you studied in each year, the marks or grades you achieved for each module and the credit rating and level of each modul
  • a copy of your MA Thesis
  • a Curriculum Vitae (CV), including a list of your publications if applicable
  • an outline of the research project you are planning to pursue, including a work schedule (up to 5 pages)
  • contact details of two possible referees (lecturers or advisors who could support your application with a letter of reference) or possible supervisors of your PhD thesis in Munich

Closing date for applications was 15. April 2017. If your application will be considered by the search committee, you will be invited for an interview at LMU Munich. The interviews will take place at the beginning of April.
