The Amerika-Institut at the Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität München (LMU) offers highly qualified students the opportunity to pursue a doctoral degree on the social, cultural, economic and political history and present of the USA, Canada and the Americas. The doctoral program "American History - History of the Americas", which is part of the Graduate School Language & Literature Munich as its Class of Culture and History (CoHist), provides a structural framework for doctoral candidates, which promotes independent research, enhances the quality of their graduate work and supports them with individualized supervision through the whole process.
