GraduateCenterLMU Workshop for Doctoral Candidates and Postdocs

Collaborating in international teams is a crucial everyday part of scientific working environments. Collaboration between team members with a different cultural background brings numerous benefits, but also often leads to misunderstandings and irritation. Emerging open or hidden conflicts can hinder productivity. Whether you are an international doctoral candidate at LMU or a local working in an international team or with an international supervisor - skills and strategies to navigate cultural differences will help you to spot and deal with cultural differences even better.

This workshop will use science-based models, short lectures and numerous exercises with a strong focus on the relevance for participants' professional and daily lives.

  • Personal experiences with teamwork in an intercultural context
  • Typical challenges of international teamwork
  • Tools that will help to prevent misunderstandings or conflicts and work together in a respectful way
