GraduateCenterLMU Workshop for Doctoral Candidates and Postdocs

International experience allows scientists to broaden their perspectives, collaborate with researchers with different cultural backgrounds and gain exposure to diverse scientific practices and methodologies. Working in an international setting can lead to innovative results and advancements that tackle global challenges. Whether you are an international doctoral candidate working at LMU or a local doctoral candidate gaining international experiences through working in an international team at LMU – this workshop is for you!

This workshop offers the opportunity to discuss challenges and chances of international team work and to acquire strategies to navigate cultural differences and to deal with misunderstanding and conflicts. Participants will also find out how to create an inclusive team culture where local and international team members can learn from each other. This workshop is structured around science-based models, short lectures and numerous exercises with a strong focus on the relevance for your professional and daily life. 

Workshop topics:

  • Personal experiences with international team work 
  • Challenges and chances of international team work
  • Criteria for inclusive teams 
  • Strategies and tools that will help to prevent misunderstandings/conflicts and work together in a respectful way
  • Developing strategies for self-experienced difficult situations in international teams

Target group: Doctoral candidates and postdocs of LMU Munich (the number of participants is limited)
